Career Coach Leadership Trainer Growth Consultant

I was seventeen years old when I faced a huge academic setback. This resulted in me needing to travel every day to a new college which was around 100 kms by bus each day to and fro. This resulted in self- analysis and reading books beyond my age and comprehension and that elevated my thinking and my understanding of the world. I began with small books by swami Vivekananda to reading the complete works of swami Vivekananda. Dale Carnegie, Napoleon Hill , Stephen Covey and Dr Wayne Dyer became strong influences. This shift moved me away from a destined career in science and Dentistry. My focus shifted to a business & people management career with an internship of sorts at the age of 18 being involved in a Dental Conference on the PR side. This is the first time I saw a leadership trainer and coach organizing a set of team building and leadership games An additional catalyst as well as the experience working in my Dads dental clinic as a receptionist for two hours every day in my early 20s. The undergraduate years in a business management course led me to organize and participate in management fest and competitions as well. This was a phase where I lapped up books on business management from business biographies to management best practices.

I have immersed myself over two decades as a solopreneur, Co- Founder in two ventures as well as being an investor and advisor in several other ventures. These ventures have been in the social sector, hospitality industry, corporate training, Outdoor recreation & training, philanthropy , event management and investment advisory firms to mention a few. The business entities include LLP’s , Private Limited companies and serving as Founding trustee in a social sector organization My current solopreneur venture “Consult Shravan” & “Shravan Shetty” has evolved over the past two decades focused on helping organizations and individuals have an incremental awareness on their strengths and leveraging it for Learning Productivity and Growth.

If you had to start over would you choose a corporate career or being an entrepreneur and why?

I would have continued to work for a longer duration in corporate prior to turning entrepreneur. I was an accidental entrepreneur turning to a freelance career as a consultant, trainer and coach building my solo venture at the age of 30. I turned entrepreneur / freelance consultant to support my parents as my father was diagnosed with Multiple Myeloma. Freelance / solopreneur career was the best way to prioritize attention , time and energy to help my Parents as they battled this crisis for close to Years. I would have intentionally turned entrepreneur probably by choice at the age of 40 / 45 years instead of at 30 years of age. I of course have no regrets . As its said “when life throws lemons at you: you make lemonade “ I would have preferred to be an “Intentional” Entrepreneur instead of being an “Accidental” entrepreneur.

What is the hardest challenge you faced in your career and how did you turn it into an opportunity?

I consider myself as a lifelong student at the “University of hard knocks” Diverse setbacks since my teenage years facing academic failure at various phases of my life ,Life threatening phases of health / financial distress with Parents Health , multiple entrepreneurship failures has made me believe my life force spirit is that of a “ Phoenix “ Career Wise, there have been several situations across organizations and projects that has required me to Unthink , Unlearn and rethink and reskill myself as I have worked across organizations be it with Fortune 500 organizations or Organizations such as the United Nations or top educational institutions across India and Globally as well. Every FAIL has been a Frequent Attempt in Learning, Every Setback a opportunity to go internal and reinvent myself. I believe in what my Mentor , Mr Giri Balasubramaniam has shared as advice … We need to “Script our Future” as we “Manage our Present” and consistently let go of “What is in the Past” that holds us back.
